John Hawes, D.O.

John R. Hawes, Jr., D.O. “I believe most doctors agree on a goal of health and wellness, but I must admit I entered this profession to treat the sick and suffering. I am especially geared towards musculoskeletal ailments and injuries.” Dr. Hawes, Jr. practice encompasses the scope of General Practice. He accepts ages 1 on up. He treats all ailments such as Hypertension and Diabetes and perform Pap Smears and minor office surgeries.
Dr. Hawes, Jr. has a special interest in Dermatology and treatment with Cryosurgery and performs intra-articular joint injections. Being an Osteopath he has used the additional training of spinal manipulation and a good portion of his practice has been dedicated to this. Dr. Hawes, Jr. is also a Hospice Medical Director for the past 18 years. Treating the suffering associated at the end of life is one of the most important things a doctor can do for his patient.
Education: Born and raised in San Diego, Ca and graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wa. Medical training at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. Internship in St. Petersburg, Fl. Medical school on a military scholarship and in return he served four years at George Air Force Base. In 1987, he started his private practice in the high desert being the first Osteopath on staff at the two local hospitals that were present at that time.
Hobbies and Interests: Dr. Hawes, Jr. resides in Apple Valley with his wife Fran and a lot of animals. He gives credit to his wife, Fran Hawes as being instrumental in the success of his practice as front and back-office manager and biller. His interests include guitar playing and collecting (has over 20 Acoustic guitars) along with being a singer. He enjoys acapella quartet singing and has competed at a district level involving the three western states.
